FAQ
Help & FAQ
Where is Loving Culture's Revitalizing Organic Hair Oil made?
Our revitalizing organic hair oil is manufactured in a certified manufacturing facility here in the USA.
Where do you source your ingredients?
All of our ingredients are sourced sustainably from various parts of the world where the oils are readily available. Our Argan oil is Fair-Trade.
Will it clog my pores?
Our revitalizing organic hair oil is a light-weight, non-greasy, non-clogging oil and contains ingredients that mimic sebum; the similar type of bodily oils that we humans naturally produce. Our oil does not contain any mineral oil, is 100% free of any petrochemicals, no dyes, no artificial fragrances, is soy-free, and is 100% USDA certified.
What does it smell like?
As for scent, no fragrances have been added. It has a slight cinnamon scent just from the ingredient, but smells mostly of the oils. All the ingredients are 100% certified organic. The oils are cold pressed, even the castor oil, to avoid the heavy smell that castor oil normally has. Many customers with smell sensitivity enjoy using our oil because it does not have any harsh strong smell. However, if you have extreme sensitivity to smell, We cannot guarantee that you will not have an aversion to our product (this is highly subjective).
Do you test on Animals?
No, we are 100% Leaping Bunny certified, 100% Vegan, Gluten-free and we would never test on our furry or non furry friends.
Will it work on my hair type and texture?
Our revitalizing organic hair oil is highly versatile and can be used in many different ways on all hair types and textures. How you use it is determined by your specific hair needs and texture. Some hair textures may need more and some textures may need less depending on usage. You must consider your hair porosity (which is your hair's ability to absorb and retain moisture). There are different levels of porosity and can range from low, medium, and high.
For hair that has low porosity (cuticles of hair are resistant to opening for any forms of moisture and feels like products sit on the hair) You would benefit greatly from a hot oil treatment or a pre-shampoo treatment. By dampening the hair slightly and applying our oil and wrapping hair with a warm towel for 20 minutes it will allow the cuticles to open and absorb the nutrients from our oil.
For hair that has high porosity (hair cuticles are usually raised and absorbs moisture quickly, however, they often remain raised; which can cause tangling and damage). This can often occur due to frequent chemical exposure such as bleach, dyes, heat, and shampoos that often strip hair; even environmental exposure can cause this. How to use: Our hair oil helps to seal highly porous hair, you can use it within the LCO method (use after applying your leave-in and gel) you can add it to your favorite conditioner and deep conditioner as well during your wash process.
To determine your hair porosity here is a helpful resource.
Does this oil only work on curly hair?
Our oil can benefit all hair patterns. It can help reduce frizzy prone hair.
Can I use this oil on color treated hair or chemically straightened hair?
Yes, our oil can actually help hair that has been color treated or chemically straightened. It will not alter your hair color and will help restore more moisture and elasticity; reducing excessive shedding while strengthening hair cuticles.
Can I use this oil on my children?
Our oil is 100% toxic-free and is safe enough to use on children. It was formulated by our founder, who is an Environmental health researcher who focuses her research on neuro- and bio-toxicity and seeks to reduce toxic exposure to everyone especially infants and children.
Can I use this oil on my body as well?
Yes, our oil can be used on face and body and absorbs quickly into the skin leaving skin feeling supple and moist. Many of our customers use our oil on their skin after shaving or waxing, use on lips, use as a face oil at night, use as a beard oil, use as a cuticle oil, and use on the scalp for daily conditioning or for hair growth.
How are you sustainable?
Loving Culture embodies sustainability. Our oil is 100% biodegradable, our ingredients are ethically sourced, even our organic argan oil is Fair Trade.
We only bottle our oils in glass to avoid plastics leaking into the product. In addition, glass is much easier to recycle and breakdown in the environment. According to a study that was conducted by the University of California Santa Barbara's National Ecological Analysis and Synthesis there are between 4.8 and 12.7 million metric tons of plastic waste that end up in the ocean every year. By 2025 this number will have dramatically increased. We use eco-friendly screen printing as well instead of using labels.
All of our packaging is 100% recyclable. We seek recycled post-consumer products when sourcing for shipping and marketing supplies. We avoid excess waste and reuse as much as possible. Our shipping boxes are FSC certified; which means our boxes are do not contribute to deforestation and are eco-friendly.
